Gemini Classic is 100% safe to use. Its scanning algorithms avoid scanning for vital system files. You can rest assured that you won't remove files that can affect your system performance. Also, if you delete duplicates with Gemini Classic, you will still be able to restore them because Gemini Classic does not erase these files, it only moves them to the Trash.
However, Gemini Classic only works on Mac operating systems 10.7-10.9, which Apple does not support anymore. The systems also do not receive updates anymore. As a result, Gemini Classic and other apps that work on that systems may have problems.
After you have successfully installed and launched Gemini Classic, drag the folder or drive you wish to scan to Gemini Classic and drop it on the Gemini Classic window to start scanning it for duplicates.
When you’ve scanned a certain folder for duplicates and checked off the necessary files for deletion, click Remove Selected to delete them. After doing so, Gemini Classic will show you the list of chosen duplicates so you that you can recheck everything. Click Remove Duplicates if you have double-checked the list and Gemini Classic will then move them to the Trash in spectacular fashion by shredding the list before your eyes. It’s quite cool.
Yes. Command-click the folders in Finder that you wish to be scanned to select them all at once and then drag and drop them on Gemini Classic window. Note that though Gemini's Classic scanning is fast and efficient, the more folders you select to scan, the more time it will take to scan them.
The Auto-select algorithm analyzes file parameters, such as dates of creation and modification, folders they are placed in, and others. Based on the above, Gemini Classic defines what instances of files look like duplicates. The Auto-select feature always leaves one instance of every file untouched meaning that it is completely safe to use.
Yes. If you have files in your iPhoto/iTunes, Gemini Classic will scan them for duplicates. Be aware that in order to correctly remove duplicate files from your iTunes or iPhoto library, Gemini Classic will launch iTunes or iPhoto to ensure that library corruption does not take place. Please remain patient when cleaning these libraries; it can take some time.
Gemini Classic only moves duplicates to the Trash. It does not actually erase them. You can always go to the Trash and restore the necessary duplicates.
When you clean duplicates with Gemini Classic, the app moves them to the Trash. This allows you to restore the files in case you accidentally delete something. However, if you are certain that you don’t need the deleted files, just empty your Trash and the free space on your drive will be increased.
