Using Multiple Displays and Desktops

(Updated: )

No matter how many workplaces (desktops on your Mac) or displays (monitors connected to the Mac) you have, Wallpaper Wizard 2 manages them all. Just follow the instructions below to make wallpapers roll as you expect.

Change backgrounds on desktops

Roll one wallpaper on all desktops

This behavior is default so you don't need to make any changes if you want to have the same background on all your desktops.

How it works: as you switch to a new desktop, Wallpaper Wizard immediately sets a current picture in the Roll as its wallpaper. If you set a permanent wallpaper, Wallpaper Wizard applies it to a current desktop and to every desktop you open afterwards (if Wallpaper Wizard is still launched).

Change a wallpaper on a current desktop only

  1. Open the Roll tab and click the gear button.
  2. Deselect the "Set wallpapers on all desktops" checkbox.

How it works: when it's time to change a background, Wallpaper Wizard applies the next picture in the Roll to a currently active desktop only. Whereafter, as you switch among desktops, their backgrounds remain unchanged.

Set a permanent wallpaper for a desktop of your choice

  1. Open the Roll tab and click the gear button.
  2. Deselect the "Set wallpapers on all desktops" checkbox.
  3. Stop automatic change of wallpapers by clicking Pause on the Roll tab.
  4. Open a picture you'd like to set as a wallpaper on the current display and click Set Desktop Picture (or Set to Display if you have more than one display connected) at the bottom of the window.

Now, reopen Wallpaper Wizard 2 on the next desktop where you'd like to set a permanent wallpaper and repeat step 4.

Manage wallpapers on multiple displays

Wallpaper Wizard 2 handles as many displays as you can connect to your Mac. All of them are shown on the Roll tab and in the Menu.

By default, Wallpaper Wizard uses a current picture in the Roll as a wallpaper on all of your displays and continues to change backgrounds simultaneously. However, Wallpaper Wizard also allows you to choose a different background for each display or make pictures move from one display to another.

Roll different pictures on each display

  1. Open the Roll tab and click the gear button.
  2. Choose "Different wallpaper for each."

Now, all your displays will have unique backgrounds changed according to the Roll queue.

Roll pictures one-by-one through all displays

  1. Open the Roll tab and click the gear button.
  2. Choose "Roll through all displays."

Pictures from the Roll will fly from display to display one after another.

Set a permanent wallpaper for each display

Open a picture and click an order number of the display at the bottom of the window. You can check a display’s order number on the Roll tab or in the Menu if you don't remember it.

Even if you set a permanent wallpaper for one display only, Wallpaper Wizard stops the Roll for both displays. Your queue remains in the Roll waiting for the moment when you click Play again.
