Configure Malware Scan automation

(Updated: )

CleanMyMac Business lets you set up Malware Scan automation tasks to run regular scans on devices enrolled in your Organization. These scans help detect and remove threats such as viruses, miners, keyloggers, worms, Trojans, and other malicious software.

You can create as many Malware Scan automation tasks as needed—each with its own settings to suit different scenarios.

To configure a Malware Scan automation task:

  1. Sign in to your Owner or Admin account in the Admin Dashboard, then go to Automation.

  2. On the Automation page, click Add New Automation in the upper-right corner and choose Malware Scan.

If you don't have any automation tasks configured yet, you can also click Add New Automation in the center and choose Malware Scan.

    The task settings open.

  3. In the task settings, configure the following:

    • Name—A descriptive name for the task to help you distinguish it from other automation tasks. Visible only to Admins.

    • Start date and time—Date and time when the task should begin. The schedule is based on the time zone of the person creating the task.

    • Repeat interval—How often the task repeats (every 7, 14, or 30 days).

    • Forced execution day and time—Day and time when the task should be executed on user devices if skipped. Available options depend on the repeat interval.

    • Reminders—Number of notifications (0, 1, or 2) users will receive before the task is executed forcefully.

    • Scan options—Choose whether to scan PKG files and DMG disk images.

    • Scan mode—Choose between Balanced, Deep, or Quick scan modes.

    Note

After creating the task, you won't be able to edit the start date and time or the repeat interval. To change these settings, you'll need to create a new task.

If you already have other Malware Scan automation tasks set up, their basic details will appear in the Your Active Automations section on the right.

  4. Click Save Automation to create the task.

To cancel without saving, click Close at the bottom, the Close icon ( The Close icon ) at the top, or press the Esc (Escape) key.

The task will now appear in the relevant widget with the settings you've configured.
