Turn real-time monitoring on or off

(Updated: )

While you can turn real-time monitoring off, we recommend keeping it active for the highest level of safety. It uses minimal system resources and won't slow down your Mac.

  1. Open the CleanMyMac Menu, click the gear icon in the lower-right corner, then choose Settings.

Alternatively, open CleanMyMac, then go to CleanMyMac > Settings in the menu bar (upper-left corner of your screen).

  2. Go to the Protection tab, then select or deselect the Enable Malware Monitor option to turn real-time monitoring on or off, respectively.

If real-time monitoring is off, you can also turn it back on directly from the CleanMyMac Menu:

  • Click Turn On in the Protection monitor.

  • Click the Protection monitor to open the detailed view, then click Turn On in Monitor.
